After a disappointing first few games Army was looking to set the record straight and put up numbers against a Maryland team that had beaten Wagner, Rowan, and Navy. An early goal for the Terps did not discourage Army, as Sophomore Jay Peterson and Sophomore John Cahill would score to put Army ahead in the first. The Terps retaliated early in the second, and by midway through the period the score was 3-3. Freshman Harry Hernberg had scored his first collegiate goal to tie it for Army. Senior goalie and Captain Rob Fenton was battling an ankle injury throughout the first half of the game, but after 18 saves could not keep fighting on and was replaced by Sophomore jack Kraus. Senior Logan Buzzard scored off an offensive zone faceoff to put Army in the lead heading into the third period.

Heading into the third, Maryland was determined to bounce back and regain the lead. Scoring two quick goals, Maryland was now on top 5-4. Captain Matt Reihl, who had been quite all game, came alive in the third and tucked it, to knot the game back up. It wasn't long, however, before the Terps counter attacked on a 2 on 1 and rifled a shot in just under the crossbar to push them ahead once again. Still buzzing from his first goal Reihl seized another opportunity and tied the game for Army. With a late third period time out, head coach Devin Guy rallied the team. Once again Captain Matty Reihl found a way to tuck the puck and put Army on top 7-6. With four and half minutes to play, the Terps were determined to comeback.

Fighting hard and pulling their goalie, Maryland launched a massive counter attack in Army's zone but solid defense and goal-tending held out and gave Army their second win of the season. The Cadets look towards Marist to put them over .500 on the season.
