WEST POINT, NY - Matthew Riehl (Macomb, MI) was named Player of the Week for the Mid-Atlantic conference by Hockey Y'All. Riehl, a yearling (Sophomore) cadet, became the U.S. Military Academy’s first Player of the Week selection after scoring two goals and assisting on two others in Division II Army’s 5-4 upset victory against Towson.
He did so after pulling 12 hours of guard duty last week, playing in a 3-2 loss to Towson Friday night, and attending Army’s football game Saturday afternoon.
“These guys deal with a lot, and he fought through and put the team on his back,” said Army head coach Rob Loderstedt.
