Washington, D.C. Area - West Point's road-hardened club visited the nation's capital area, taking a weekend sweep against ACHA DII clubs Georgetown University and George Washington University.

In Friday night's matchup, West Point battled a tough Georgetown Hoyas team and prevailed 4-2. Freshman Matthew Riehl had two unassisted goals to lead Army to victory. Riehl scored at 18:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Army and again while on the power play 2:23 into the second to make the score 2-1. Army put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Hoyas to score on any of their three power plays. Junior James Morsch also scored for Army.

Army survived a determined comeback attempt by the Hoyas, after Tyler Rettke made the score 4-1 at 6:57 in the second period (assists from Thane Heller and Mitch Deridder). Georgetown University got as close as 4-2 when Daniel Shea scored 12:13 into the third period. But Army's defense was too much for Georgetown in closing out the win.

Saturday's tilt remained close through the first 2 periods, with the Cadets nursing a 3-2 lead going into the third. West Point erupted for 4 goals in the thrid and beat George Washington's Colonials going away, 7-4.
